Amazing technicolor clutch*

Our local high school has recently performed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. To say thanks to the choir director and choreographer, I made them each a small clutch bag. I used cotton worsted weight yarn in a rainbow hue with an H hook. I added a liner and a zipper. It measures about 6 ½ “ wide and 4” tall. It is just large enough to hold some pencils or pens and if you crochet, it will hold hooks.

I started with a single crochet foundation row of 24. The first 4 shells are worked normal; the other 4 are on the backside of the starting chain.
Row1: ch3, 2dc in same stitch, *skip two spaces, sc, skip two spaces, 5dc ss, repeat from* 6 times, sk two sp, sc, sk two sp, 2dc ss in the very first chain with the beg. chain and 2dc. Slip stitch to top of ch3. (8shells/8sc)
Row2: sk two st, 5dc ss, sk two st, sc, repeat around.
Rows3-8: repeat rows 1 and 2.
Row9: sc ss as joining, sc in each st around. Fasten off and weave in ends.
I added a liner and a zipper.
